client talkradio (wireless group limited, a subsidiary of news uk) sector broadcast media discipline presenter | guest expert
Speech stations are an increasingly popular radio format focusing on topical discussions and original spoken word content rather than leading with music; and in the UK talkRADIO is the fastest growing speaking station. Relaunched on the 21 March 2016, talkRADIO is the sister channel of national stations talkSPORT, talkSPORT2, Virgin Radio UK and Times Radio; fulfilling a growing market desire for more US-style punchy political commentary and opinionated content. With shows regularly hosted by personality-driven individuals such as James Whale, Mark Dolan and Julia Hartley-Brewer, talkRADIO is rapidly growing its listenership; rising by 25% year on year, to become currently the 33rd most popular radio station in the UK and the 28th most famous (according to a YouGov poll in early 2021). In addition to producing cutting edge content , all studio radio broadcasts are now being live streamed. Putting a face to the voice, talkRADIO TV is now offering visual newsfeed style radio content, available via youtube, twitter, facebook or accessible through the talkRADIO app. Approached by producers to compile content, source wines and feature as the guest wine expert, Christopher joined Robert Rinder (filling in for Ian Collins in the afternoons) in the studio, broadcasting live to the nation for their weekly Friday afternoon feature #winedownfriday. Cooper co-presented and curated thirty minutes of wine tasting, teasing, teaching, off-topic banter and general wine chatter on the wondrous white wines of Georgia, in the established section where Christopher challenged Rob, a self-proclaimed wine heathen, to pick out his winners. Highlighting all the relevant retail details whilst filling the airwaves with wondrous winespeak, Christopher truly delivered on taste, by scoring a home-run with one wine Rob absolutely loved. Cooper will be regularly appearing as the wine expert on #winedownfriday with Ian Collins in the coming months.
